The Algerian Dinar, divided into 100 centimes, is the official currency of Algeria. This currency comes in paper denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 dinars. Coins come in 5,10,20 and 50 centimes as well as 1, 5 and 10 dinars. The Algerian Dinar is abbreviated as AD.

Traveler's cheques

Some hotels change traveler's cheques but the only bank to do so is the Banque National d'Algérie.

Credit cards

Credit cards are not a generally accepted as a form of payment in Algeria.
