Fishing

Fishing is another source of revenue, with an annual catch of 592,900 tons, mostly from Atlantic seaboard centres such as Casablanca, Agadir, Safi and Essaouira.

Cork is one of the major forest products of Morocco. Big quantities of timber are cut for domestic use as fuel; the total timber cut in 1999 was estimated at 1.7 million cubic meters (61.7 million cubic feet).

Agadir, Safi, Essaouira and Casablanca are the chief fishing centers in Morocco. The total catch in 1997 was 785,843 metric tons, including tuna, mackerel, shellfish, pilchard and anchovies.
