Morocco is one of the world leading producers of phosphate rock. Total output was estimated at 24 million metric tons in 1999. Morocco also produces other minerals such iron ore (7,680 metric tons), coal (290,299 metric tons), zinc (115,000 metric tons) and silver (300 metric tons).
