The ONAT buses have largely replaced the service taxis for inter-city trips as they are much more comfortable.
As in other Middle Eastern countries, it is best to agree on a taxi fare in advance. Taxis from Muscat to the airport cost about OR5 if taken privately and 500 baisa if shared.
