Perhaps the most historic town in Qatar, it is about 105km north of Doha.

Al-Zubarah is famous for its old fort, which was built by local craftsmen during the time of Sheikh Abdullah bin Qassim Al-Thani (1913-1949). The fort is square in shape with three round towers and is known for its thick walls ending in battlements.
