Aid was received over the past decade from Italy, Germany, the United Nations (especially UNICEF), the World Bank, the African Development Fund and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.
China has been particularly involved in the country's development, but not in direct military aid. China has built many wells and constructed the vital road between Mogadishu and Hargeisa.
