There is no rail network, but the Yemen is beginning to build a good, modern road system, with foreign aid.
Roads, bridges, sewerage works and dams are currently under construction and there are highways connecting Sana'a to al-Hudayah and Mocha to Ta'izz and Sana'a.
Al-Hudayah has modern port facilities which were built in the early 1970s.
In 1995 a contract was won for a 60km stretch of 2-lane asphalt road and six large bridges to be built at Hajja al Kusm.
